Recap: January 2026 - Part 2

Having been introduced to this female only car group, I looked up Be Right Back UK and joined the Whatsapp group ahead of their January social event. This was a great way to meet other ladies virtually who had similar interests to me around cars, but also just a great way to talk to new people, to build up new connections and friendships. This was the beginning of what has now become a very important part of my year.

My partner was very supportive in me joining the group and attending the first social event. I decided to attend the January social to meet some of these ladies face to face and see what this was all about.

When I arrived at Caffeine and Machine – The Hill, there was about 40 people there. It was very daunting and nerve-wracking, really pushing me out of my comfort zone as I can be quite shy in uncomfortable situations. I didn’t recognise anyone, so had to find a level of confidence within me to walk into the room and find someone to talk to. I don’t remember who now or peoples’ names, but I remember approaching someone sitting with a dog. That is always a good way to break the ice!

Fiat Seicento with BRB card

Although originally overwhelming, I did enjoy myself and was lovely to meet some new people and start to form new connections. I started to recognise people’s names from the chat and now could put a name to a face. Everyone was very welcoming as there were a lot of new people who had attended the January social.

I didn’t have the ‘best’ car or the most interesting car, but those I spoke to about the Fiat Seicento, loved it. It was great to speak with other women who just enjoyed cars with no ego or need to show off and spend some time away in a new location.

Having thoroughly enjoyed myself at the BRB social, once getting over the initial dauntingness of the situation, I continued to partake in the Whatsapp group and decided I would join the next social event in February.
